SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Victor Manosalvas (Clifton, N.J.) gave the Seton Hall men's soccer team an early, 1-0, lead however Ryan Kinne netted his fourth and fifth goals of the year as #5 Monmouth defeated the Pirates, 2-1, Friday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field.
In the 11th minute, Manosalvas connected after a cross pass from Christian Battistesa (South Bound Brook, N.J.) went passed a sliding Bryan Meredith in net. The Clifton native kicked the ball into the empty net for his first of year.
Just 15 minutes later, Kinne tallied his first of the game on a shot from 20 yards outside beating Kevin Bonder (Whippany, N.J.) high to the left side.
After the break, the Hawks took the lead in the 52nd minute on Kinne's second goal of the game. A carbon-copy of his first, this one from 30 yards outside went passed Bonder in the top right corner.
The Pirates battled in the second half short-handed after two first half yellow cards by Brayan Martinez (West Orange, N.J.) with five corner kicks and four total shots, but were unable to net the tying goal.
Bonder finished with four saves while his counterpart Meredith made two.
