Garcia Earns Place on BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Max Garcia (Jersey City, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in a 3-3 draw against Delaware last week.
Garcia scored a pair of impressive goals and fired eight shots, six of which were on target. His first tally came off a set piece just outside the goal box about 27 yards away. Garcia's strike bent around the Blue Hens wall to give the Pirates the lead in the 10th minute.
In the 86th minute, the striker received a long pass while making a run down the left side. Garcia then used his strength and some nice footwork to create space in the middle for a beauty of a shot that sliced into the upper right corner to put SHU on top, 3-2.
In addition, he set up another goal as he was taken down by the UD goalkeeper on a breakaway to draw a penalty kick that the Pirates scored on.
Connor Lade won BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading St. John's this past week, while Providence's Jhojan Obando was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week. Mamadou Doudou Diouf was tabbed as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Andy Bevin from West Virginia earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors.
