Garcia notched two goals as Seton Hall posted a 1-1 record in a pair of home matches last week. He scored off a penalty kick as the Pirates picked up their first win of the season, a 2-0 decision over Army on Monday, Aug. 27, and followed that up with a powerful strike from more than 20-yards out against Princeton on Friday, Aug. 31.
Seton Hall scored twice off penalty kicks in the win over Army, with Garcia drawing a foul in the area on both occasions. Senior midfielder Adriano Gabriele (North Babylon, N.Y.) converted the first PK in the 63rd minute and Garcia drew the foul and scored on the penalty kick in the 85th minute.
Garcia's score against Princeton displayed why his is one of the most dynamic offensive threats in the conference. Sophomore Konrad Plew (Maniowy, Poland) fed Garcia up the left side of the field leading to a powerful shot all the way to the far-right post that beat Princeton goalkeeper Max Gallin.
Through the first three games of the season, Garcia leads Seton Hall with five points on two goals and an assist and he is tied for fourth in the BIG EAST in goals scored and points and ranks second in the conference with 13 shots.
It is the second time in his career that Garcia has earned BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll accolades and the first since Sept. 5, 2011.
Seton Hall (1-2) returns to action on Monday, Sept. 3, when it hosts Rider University on Owen T. Carroll Field at 7 p.m.
