Softball Program Receives NFCA Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Seton Hall University softball team was named a 2013-14 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team honoree and had 10 student-athletes earn NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete accolades, it was announced Thursday by the association.
The Pirates posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.356 during the 2013-14 academic year, which ranked 42nd amongst all NCAA Division I programs and third in the BIG EAST Conference. DePaul led the league as an NFCA Top10 Academic Team with a team GPA of 3.575, and St. John's ranked 20th nationally.
Additionally, Seton Hall saw 10 student-athletes receive individual academic recognition, the third highest tally in the league trailing only DePaul (12) and St. John's (11).
In order to qualify for the NFCA academic award, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
Jen Metzger (Pine Hill, N.J.), Danielle DeStaso (Congers, N.Y.), Whitney Jones (Skowhegan, Maine), Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.), Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.), Meredith Henze (Elkton, Md.), Kaylyn Sanbower (Etters, Pa.), Jackie DiPietro (Horsham, Pa.), Casey Moses (Lower Burrell, Pa.) and Faith Laudano (Islip, N.Y.) represented The Hall as NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes.
The NFCA honors are the latest in another banner year academically at The Hall. Seton Hall's student-athletes finished the 2013-14 academic year with a 3.29 cumulative GPA, the highest in school history.
