Yasmin Harrell Named to Softball Honor Roll

NEW YORK - Seton Hall University shortstop Yasmin Harrell (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll Monday it was announced by the league office. Harrell led the Pirates offensively at the 25th Annual Campbell/Cartier Classic over the weekend in San Diego, Calif., hitting .375 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.
Harrell recorded a base hit in four of Seton Hall's five games last week, which included a pair of multi-hit games. Over the three-day tournament she went 6-of-16 at the plate.
After going 1-for-3 against North Dakota State and Central Michigan, her first multi-hit game came against Oregon State on Saturday afternoon, when she went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In Seton Hall's tournament finale against Central Michigan on Sunday morning, Harrell went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base, but it was not enough to help the Pirates put one in the win column.
For the season, Harrell has started all 10 games in the infield, playing five games at shortstop last week in San Diego. She ranks third on the team with a .353 average and has registered a team-leading 12 base hits with three stolen bases, which is tied for the SHU lead.
Seton Hall (5-5) returns to action this weekend when it travels down to North Carolina to compete in the three-day East Carolina Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C. SHU opens tournament play on Friday, Feb. 20, against Lafayette at 10 a.m.
