Alexis Walkden Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

NEW YORK - For the second time this season, Seton Hall University freshman third baseman Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) has been named to the BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll Monday it was announced by the league office.
Walkden hit .360 last week to lead the Pirates to a 3-4 record during the second part of its week-long Spring Break trip to Clearwater, Fla. She hit a pair of home runs and three doubles to slug .720 with a .407 on-base percentage, and led The Hall with 11 RBI.
Heading into the start of BIG EAST play, Walkden has been enjoying a phenomenal freshman campaign, as she ranks second on the team with a .339 batting average while slugging a team-leading .855 with nine home runs, which already ties for sixth in a single-season at Seton Hall. Walkden leads the BIG EAST in home runs and RBI (25), and ranks third in slugging.
Last week in Florida, she recorded three multi-hit games, which included a pair of monster performances. Against Western Michigan on March 10, Walkden went 3-for-5 with all three hits going for extra bases, as she recorded a home run and a pair of doubles. The next day she went 2-for-4 to hit 5-for-9 in the two-game set.
Against Quinnipiac on Friday, she homered again, also hitting a double to bat 2-for-4 with six RBI in a 14-0 Seton Hall win. Walkden had at least one base hit in five of SHU's seven games last week and leads the Pirates with a .431 on-base percentage this year.
Seton Hall is scheduled to open conference play at Providence College this Saturday-Sunday, March 21-22, with a double header on Saturday, and the series finale on Sunday. First pitch on both days is slated for 12 p.m.
