SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall University softball team's 2015 BIG EAST opening series, scheduled for this Saturday-Sunday at Providence College, has been postponed due to poor field conditions and inclement weather.
The series will be rescheduled for Monday-Tuesday, April 6-7. The teams will play a doubleheader on April 6, starting at 1 p.m., and a single game on April 7, at 11 a.m. The non-conference doubleheader at Central Connecticut State, originally scheduled for April 7, has been cancelled.
After playing 12 games in 10 days last week over Spring Break in Clearwater, Fla., Seton Hall lost five games this week due to persistent unseasonably cold weather and additional late-season snow fall.
The Pirates are scheduled to resume play with a midweek BIG EAST series against the defending conference champion DePaul Blue Demons this Tuesday-Wednesday, March 24-25, at Essex County Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field.
A doubleheader is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m., with the finale to follow on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
