Pirates Battle Georgetown To Scoreless Draw
10/26/2016 10:43:00 PM | Men's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall men's soccer team (3-10-2, 1-5-1 BIG EAST) grabbed a conference point on Wednesday night, battling Georgetown (5-8-2, 2-3-2) to a scoreless draw at Owen T. Carroll Field. Julian Spindler (Weiersbach, Germany) made two of his five saves on the night in double overtime to preserve his second clean sheet of conference play.
With the result, the Pirates remain alive for a potential berth into the BIG EAST conference tournament. The Hall sits five points behind sixth-place DePaul with two matches left on the league slate. The top six teams in the conference make the conference championship.
Turning Point
In the 105th minute, a flick-on header led to a golden opportunity for a winner for Georgetown's Riley Strasser, who sent a second header aimed on target. Spindler lunged to his left and got a piece of the potential winner, knocking it away for a corner kick and keeping the match scoreless. Overall, the senior keeper made four saves in the final 21 minutes of match.
