Pirates Fall Late At DePaul
10/8/2016 4:28:00 PM | Men's Soccer
CHICAGO – The Seton Hall men's soccer team (3-8-1, 1-3-0 BIG EAST) dropped a heartbreaker at DePaul (6-5-2, 1-3-0) by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field. Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) notched the lone goal for the Pirates, his team-high sixth of the season.
The Pirates controlled possession throughout much of the first half, but found themselves down 1-0 after an 18th minute goal from the Blue Demons. Arcila was able to equalize with a penalty kick in the 32nd minute to send the contest to halftime knotted at 1-1.
The second half was more of the same, with The Hall holding possession in the DePaul third for several large stretches during the frame. The Pirates were unable to find the back of the net, however, leaving the door open for a late DePaul winner.
Turning Point
After a prolonged period of possession for the Pirates in the final stages of the second half, DePaul was able to get out on the counter and find a winner. Keeper Quentin Low started the scoring chance with a long blast from his own box to flip the field, before Hans Wustling got deep and fired a shot that was deflected. Erik Rodriguez was there waiting and sent home the rebound for his second of the day and the eventual game-winner in the 89th minute.
