Pirates Drop Two On Day One of Under Armour Invitational

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Seton Hall softball team opened the 2016 USF Under Armour Showcase on Friday, dropping a 5-3 decision to St. Bonaventure and a 4-0 setback to Detroit. The Pirates will be back in action on Saturday, with three more games to play in the tournament.

- The Bonnies scored a run in the first and four in the second to build an early lead they would not relent
- The Pirates were able to muster only three hits compared to 10 for SBU
- Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.) had two hits, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases
- Suto is now a perfect 12-for-12 on the bases this season
- Noel Lent (Yaphanic, N.Y.) had the lone Seton Hall RBI and Yasmin Harrell (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) scored a run
- Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) racked up a career-high eight strikeouts in her sixth complete game of the season

- The Pirates were out-hit 4-1 but drew a season-high 10 walks
- Detroit scored single runs in the first and second innings before adding two more in the fifth
- Alex Rabbetts (Corona, Calif.) had The Hall's lone hit, while Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) drew three walks
- Harrel and Lent each stole two bags for the Pirates
- Rabbetts' double was the lone extra-base hit for either side in the contest
