NEWARK, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team enjoyed an afternoon filled with food, entertainment, and networking with program alumni back in the area to visit with new head coach Riza Zalameda and the 2016-17 Pirates while cheering on men's basketball against rival St. John's on Sunday.
Former players and coaches, including the program's inaugural head coach Sue Patton (1974-91), were on hand and shared tennis stories, life lessons, and what it means to be a Seton Hall Pirate; all while taking in an exciting game.
"I feel like the alumni were incredibly supportive and eager to get involved with the program in every way possible," said Zalameda.
Former members of the discontinued men's program were also in attendance to pledge support for the team.
"Reconnecting with men's tennis alumni was a great experience and we truly enjoyed getting to know them and hearing about their time on campus," said Zalameda.
The Pirates plan to continue building relationships with program alumni moving forward following Sunday's successful event at Prudential Center.
Up next, The Hall travels to Princeton to take on the Tigers in its first dual match of the spring on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m.
Sunday's guests included: Mary Beth Childs '78, Helen Cunning '81, Mary Devlin '92, Maureen MacArthur '83, Don Planter, Danielle Viola '09 and Davor Barisic '95.
