Pangonis Repeats As Defensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK – For the second-straight week, Seton Hall men's soccer senior Lukas Pangonis (Kaunas, Lithuania) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday (Oct. 9).
The Pirate captain picks up the certificate after turning in a strong performance in a 2-1 win over DePaul on Saturday, giving the Pirates three crucial league points to vault into the top-four of the league table. Pangonis played all 90 minutes on a back line that held DPU to only three shots on goal, while also netting the game-winning strike in the 84th minute of a comeback win.
The goal for Pangonis was the first of the stalwart defender's career. He was appearing in his 60th match and had logged 4,973 minutes in central defense before finding the back of the net, connecting with a sliding attempt on a Gaspar Jean-Baptise (Valley Stream, N.Y.) flick-on header.
The Pirates are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 14 when they travel to Providence for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
