PREVIEW
Seton Hall returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 12 when it returns to Walsh Gymnasium to host local rival Hofstra in a mid-week non-conference matchup. Match time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. For those who cannot attend, the match will be shown on the Pirate Sports Network and will feature "Inside the Huddle with Allison Yaeger." The Pirate head coach will wear a microphone and be heard during select moments throughout the match.

LAST WEEKEND
Seton Hall played well last weekend in three matches at the Redbird Classic. The Pirates faced a pair of NCAA teams from 2016 and the tournament hosts, Illinois State. On Friday, The Hall dropped the first set, but bounced back to down Cincinnati in four sets. In the opening match on Saturday, Seton Hall trailed in its match against Illinois State, 2-1, but won the final two sets to earn a five-set match victory. The Hall dropped the afternoon contest against Dayton on Saturday. For her efforts, junior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) was named to the Redbird Classic All-Tournament Team… her third All-Tournament Team selection so far this season.

SCOUTING HOFSTRA
Seton Hall and Hofstra have split 12 prior meetings, but the Pirates have won six of the last eight contests. Most recently however, The Hall lost a five-set marathon in Hempstead, N.Y. last fall. Four Pirates reached double-figures in kills, but the Pride rallied to win sets four and five to send Seton Hall to defeat.

Hofstra is coming off a strong season in 2016 that resulted in 20 wins in 30 matches. This season, the Pride enters the contest with a 5-5 record. Most recently, they won two of three matches at the Hampton Inn Bama Bash with their lone loss coming to host Alabama. Earlier this year, they dropped a five-set match to BIG EAST foe Villanova at a neutral site.

Hofstra was picked to finish second in the nine-team Colonial Athletic Association, just six points (and three first place votes) behind the preseason favorite, the College of Charleston. Outside hitter Laura Masciullo and middle blocker Michela Rucli were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team.
