Andres Arcila Named National Player Of The Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Add another accolade to the list for Seton Hall men's soccer senior Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) as the midfielder was named United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) National Player of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 12). The national honor comes after Arcila's nine-point week that netted BIG EAST Player of the Week honors and helped the Pirates to a three-game winning streak.
Each week, a male and female player in each NCAA Division is selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA soccer conference. Arcila is the first Pirate to win the prestigious award since Samuel Petrone on Sept. 10, 2008.
Arcila dazzled in The Hall's wins over Sacred Heart, Princeton and Penn last week, finishing with three goals, three assists and a pair of game-winning goals. He recorded the lone six-point outing for any BIG EAST player in 2017 at Princeton on Sept. 7, factoring on all four goals to help The Hall erase a 3-0 deficit in an eventual 4-3 win. Arcila notched game-winners against both Princeton and Penn, both coming via direct free kick.
This season, the senior talisman ranks 10th in the country with 11 total points and 15th nationally with four goals, ranking first and second in the BIG EAST, respectively. His two game-winning goals are seventh nationally and his three total assists check in at 23rd.
Arcila and the Pirates are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Delaware at Owen T. Carroll Field for a 7 p.m. start.
