Doubles Tandems Impress at ITA Regional

New Haven, Conn. – Juniors Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) and Michal Matson (Christchurch, New Zealand) advanced to the Sweet 16 in doubles play as the Seton Hall women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional hosted by Yale Oct. 11-16.
The junior duo advanced to the round of 32 with an 8-6 vicotory over Dunleavy and Lou of Yale, before defeating Chung and Lazaro from Connecticut, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinal. However, the Pirates then fell to Knutson and Yusupova of Syracuse, 8-5.
Freshman Regina Pitts (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Amanda Nowak from Fairfield in the opening round of the main singles draw.
Looking ahead, the Pirates compete at the Harvard Invite this weekend beginning on Friday, Oct. 19 in Cambridge, Mass.
