Fajnorova Named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week

NEW YORK – Junior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) has been named the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday evening by the league office.
Fanjorova earned wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles in a 6-1 victory over Hofstra on Friday. On Saturday, she led the Pirates to a 4-3 win in the team's BIG EAST opener against DePaul after picking up a win at the top doubles flight and a 7-6, 7-6 triumph at No. 2 singles. The win over the Blue Demons was the program's first in over five years.
Looking ahead, the Pirates head to Queens on Friday for a pivotal 12 p.m. BIG EAST match at St. John's.
