
The Hall Visits St. John's For Saturday Showdown

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Seton Hall men's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) kicks off conference play on Saturday night with a primetime rivalry showdown at St. John's (3-3-0, 0-0 BIG EAST). The conference derby will begin at 7 p.m. and air on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi with John Fanta on the call.
The Pirates and Red Storm have met 38 times on the pitch dating back to 1979, marking the second-most matches against a single opponent for Seton Hall in program history. St. John's leads the all-time series 23-12-3, with The Hall last topping SJU in the 2014 regular season finale. Each of the last four contests between the two rivals has finished with a final score of 1-0.

Following the conference opener, the Pirates take a detour from BIG EAST play when they travel to Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

- The Pirates will open conference action coming off a nine-day break, last competing on Sept. 6 and playing to a scoreless draw with Hofstra
- Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) is coming off a BIG EAST weekly honor roll nod after his five-save blanking of the Pride
- The Hall is led offensively by the forward duo of Carlton McKenzie (Birmingham, England) and CJ Tibbling (Järna, Sweden) who have each scored twice through four matches
- Tibbling also has an assist for a team-high five points, while fellow rookie Martin Storesund (Oslo, Norway) has notched a goal and an assist for three points
- Nota has played every minute in goal and holds a 1.14 GAA with a .792 save percentage
- The conference opener will mark the first BIG EAST match for head coach Andreas Lindberg in his debut campaign at The Hall
- The Red Storm have played six matches this season and are 3-3-0, most recently falling to Loyola by a score of 1-0
- Matt Forster paces St. John's with three goals and seven points on the year
- Both Tani Oluwaseyi and Skage Simonsen have posted 2g-2a-6p scoring lines for the Red Storm
- In goal, Tyron Matuta and Lenny Wilson have equally split time and combined for a 0.98 GAA and .760 save percentage
