
McCardle Notches Two Program-Records Through Day 2

East Meadow, N.Y. – Senior Courtney McCardle (Hurley, N.Y.) broke a pair of school-records as the Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the second night of competition at the BIG EAST Championship held at the Nassau Aquatic Center on Long Island.
McCardle swam a program-best 200 free time of 1:49.34 in the opening leg of the 800 free relay on Wednesday night, and recorded a school-record 23.56 in the opening leg of the 200 free relay on Thursday night to lead the Pirates through the first two days of the championship meet. Earlier on Thursday, McCardle finished eighth in the 50 free with a time of 23.57, which had tied the previous record in the event held by teammate Clara Capone (West Hartford, Conn.).
On Wednesday night, the Pirates kicked things off with a school-record performance in the 800 free relay from McCardle, sophomore Julie Stankiewicz (Metuchen, N.J.), sophomore Amelia Wootton (Bethel, Conn.), and junior Sara Ouellette (Granby, Conn.), who finished with a time of 7:24.34.
Seton Hall took third in the 200 medley relay after posting a time of 1:44.38 behind the efforts of juniors Theresa Hutton (Stony Point, N.Y.), Jordan Decker (Mason, Ohio), Elizabeth Sargent (Trumbull, Conn.) and Capone.
On Thursday night, sophomore Taylor Jackson (Thornton, Colo.) finished fourth in the 3-meter dive, while Stakiewicz placed fourth in the 500 free (4:54.55), and Ouellete won the consolation heat with a time of 4:59.24.
In the 200 IM, Sargent was the first non-Villanova swimmer to finish the event, placing sixth with a time of 2:04.84. In the 200 free relay, McCardle, Capone, Stankiewicz and Decker placed third after posting a time of 1:34.16.
Up next, the Pirates will compete in preliminaries on Friday morning at 10 a.m. before returning to the pool for finals at 6 p.m. All competition will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network via FOX Sports GO.
