Pirates Open Crinion Era On Sunday At Loyola

BALTIMORE, Md. - Under the guidance of first-year head coach Ciara Crinion, the Seton Hall women's soccer team ushers in a new era when it kicks off the 2019 campaign on Sunday afternoon at Loyola (Md.). The Pirates and Greyhounds will square off in a rematch of a Pirate win in South Orange last season at 1 p.m. with the contest set to stream on Stadium TV.Â
THE CRINION ERA BEGINS
The 2019 season marks The Hall's first with Ciara Crinion at the helm. Crinion comes to South Orange after an extremely successful seven-year run at the University of Hartford, where she was an assistant and associate head coach. During her time in West Hartford, the Hawks accumulated a 77-36-20 record (.654), won four America East regular season championships and reached the America East Tournament final on four occasions. Prior to her ascent in the coaching ranks, the Ireland-native was a four-year star on the pitch at Central Connecticut. Crinion was a two-time First Team All-NEC pick and led CCSU to a pair of conference titles.Â
SQUARING OFF WITH LOYOLA
The Hall last faced Loyola early in the 2018 campaign, nabbing a 1-0 win on Aug. 23 at Owen T. Carroll Field. Evan Gonzalez buried a 72nd minute penalty kick for the game's lone tally to back a six-save shutout from Anna Maclean. Returning Pirates Marissa Aniolowski (Enfield, Conn.), Izzy Engel (Crescent, Pa.) and Siobhan McGovern (Cranford, N.J.) combined to put eight shots on target for The Hall in the win.

The Pirates will take on Lafayette in their home opener on Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Red Bulls Facility.
