Pirates Kick Off BIG EAST Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team had a solid start to the 2020 BIG EAST Championships on day one of the action.
First in the 800 Free Relay final, Julie Stankiewicz (Metuchen, N.J.), Madeleine Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.), Heidi Dickson (Greenwich, N.J.) and Amelia Wootton (Bethel, Conn.) kicked things off with a time of 7:31.45 to earn the Pirates a fourth place finish in the event with Villanova taking the top spot.
In the first diving action of the Championships, Taylor Jackson (Thornton, Colo.) scored a total of 484 points in the 1 meter dive final.
Later, in the second relay event of the evening, the 200 Medley Relay, a team comprised of Stankiewicz, Jordan Decker (Mason, Ohio), Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) and Cornelia Jerresand (Taeby, Sweden) combined to take fourth with a time of 1:43.50. The women from Villanova took the top spot.
In total, the Pirates finished the day in third place with 79 points in the first day of action.
The team will be back at it for day two of the BIG EAST Championships with Prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
