Allender Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK – Seton Hall Softball junior, Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after her strong showing in the Clearwater Spring Break Invite over the weekend. The conference office made the announcement on Monday.
In five games, Allender homered three times while driving in 12 runs. Allender leads the team and is second in the conference this season in both home runs and RBIs at eight long balls and 20 runs driven in. With a .500 batting average and a 1.643 OPS, the Texas-native helped lead the Pirates to a 4-1 stretch over the past weekend which wrapped up the team's spring break trip.
This season, the Pirates have been selected as part of the league's weekly honors in four of five weeks with Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) earning two honor roll spots after Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) opened the season on the Honor Roll.
The Pirates are back in action this week with the team's home opener coming against in-state rival Rutgers on Tuesday, March 10. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.
