5/9/2020 2:30:00 PM | Women's Tennis
Since this would have been Seton Hall's graduation month, we will highlight our seniors as part of our "May Senior Spotlight Series." Powered by Under Armour, we engaged select seniors with a little question and answer session about their time at The Hall.
MEKEILA ERSPAMER
TENNIS
Mekeila Erpsamer (Long Beach, Calif.) transferred to Seton Hall as a junior in 2018 and immediately made an impact for the Pirates during her lone spring season of competition. She posted a 10-5 record in dual matches, experiencing success at both No. 5 and No. 6 singles. She won five BIG EAST singles matches, four of them in straight sets, to help Seton Hall to a winning conference record and a No. 5 seed at the BIG EAST Championship.
Erspamer was a 2019 BIG EAST All-Academic team selection, and she volunteered her time regularly to help the Pirate Sports Network and the BIG EAST Digital Network, specializing in directing live broadcasts.
Q: What's your favorite memory competing for your team?
A: My favorite memory competing for my team was beating St. John's "unexpectedly" during the 2019 spring season. We were the underdogs, and the energy we felt and were expressing was electric. Our win sparked a whole new level of determination and led us directly to ending the season with a winning record. I did not even get to finish my match because of the clinch, but I felt so proud of myself and all of my teammates for the amount of hard work we put in that day.
Q: Who's the teammate you'll most remember?
A: I will remember ALL my teammates because they all had very memorable and fun personalities in different ways.
Q: Who was your favorite Professor?
A: My favorite professor at Seton Hall would definitely be Professor Wayne Vollweiler, he taught me more in the three classes I had with him than I have in years of education!
Q: What is the BIG EAST Team you wanted to defeat the most?
A: Definitely Marquette.
Q: What will you miss the most?
A: What I'll miss the most is having a built-in set of friends who go through the same things that you do everyday. Even through tough times, there is always someone who understands what you're going through and can offer support.
Q: What won't you miss?
A: I will not miss the feeling after a loss.
Q: What's your favorite Seton Hall team to watch (not your own)?
A: Men's Basketball
Q: Will you ever step on the green's seal after graduation?
A: I have not really thought about it, but when I return for graduation I suppose I will!
