The Pirates were the first to take a shot in the game as senior Laura Hooper's (Watford, England) attempt was saved. After the Hoyas struck in the 21st minute, freshman Cara Milne-Redhead (Clitheroe, England) was making things happen offensively as she crossed a beautiful ball into the box that found the foot of junior Julia Aronov (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) but the shot sailed high.
The Hoyas led by only one tally at the break and in the second half the Pirates nearly connected on a goal off a corner kick opportunity. Milne-Redhead sailed the ball into the area where it nearly found the head of senior Dani Brinckman (Glatstonbury, Conn.). Milne-Redhead later had a shot on goal but Georgetown went on to score twice more in the second half that put the game out of reach.
Quick Kicks
- Hooper, Brinckman, junior keeper Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.), senior Lizzy Kirk (Yardley, Pa.), senior Emily Arellano (Wadsworth, Ohio), freshman Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn) and freshman Chiara Pucci (Munich, Germany) played the full 90 minutes for the Pirates.
- Hooper took two shots on the day and both were on target.
- Junior Naomi Welch (Livingston, Scotland) also registered a shot on goal.
- Gordon made six stops between the pipes for The Hall.
