Pirates Head to Hartford for Two on Saturday

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will travel to West Hartford, Conn. to take on the University of Hartford for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates are coming off a weekend series with BIG EAST foe St. John's. The Red Storm took the series 2-1 with the teams splitting the double header on Saturday. Sophomore Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) shined for the Pirates hitting .500 during the series with three doubles. In The Hall's win on Saturday, Wingo was a perfect, 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. For her efforts, Wingo earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

The Hawks will be playing in their first action of the season when the host the Pirates.
Last season, Hartford was off to its best start since 2010 when they won six of their first 10 games before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pirates lead the all-time series 3-2, with the last meeting, a 3-2 Pirate victory, coming in 2017.

NEWS & NOTES

With two RBI's on Sunday, Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) now has nine on the year and 118 for her career, good enough for fifth place all-time in Seton Hall history.
On Saturday, Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) earned the win in the circle after a complete game while only giving up one run. Carr threw 14 innings on the day while only giving up one run on seven hits and 15 punchouts.
Lela Allen (Phoenix, Ariz.) picked up her first career hits and RBIs for the Pirates over the weekend.

The Pirates will head home for a midweek matchup with Hofstra before traveling to Omaha, Neb. for a weekend series at Creighton.
