NEW YORK - The Seton Hall women's tennis team has been seeded 10th in this week's 2020-21 BIG EAST Championship, and the Pirates will face No. 7 seed Butler in the first round Thursday at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., at 9 a.m.
Seeds for the championship were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
The winner between Seton Hall and Butler will move on to face No. 2 seed DePaul in the quarterfinals Friday at 9 a.m.
The Pirates are seeking their first tournament win since 2017, when they defeated Georgetown in the quarterfinals. This will be the first conference championship for most of the roster as only senior Minja Gligic has previously competed at BIG EAST for the Pirates.
