Pirates Slotted No. 10 to Begin 2021 Season

South Orange, N.J. – Following one of the best seasons in program history, the Seton Hall men's soccer team will start the 2021 season as the No. 10 ranked team in the nation according to the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll announced last Wednesday. The Pirates finished the 2020 season in the number nine slot last spring.
The Pirates wrapped up the 2020 season with a 10-2-4 mark culminating in a BIG EAST title and NCAA Tournament berth. Under the guidance of Head Coach Andreas Lindberg, the Pirates captured their first BIG EAST Tournament Championship since 1991 with a 2-1 win over then-second ranked Georgetown at Shaw Field. The team also made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005 as the number six overall seed. The Pirates would go on to win two games in the tournament to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for only the second time in program history and first since 1988.
In total, the Pirates spent six consecutive weeks inside the United Soccer Coaches Poll Top-25 to round out the regular season securing the No. 6 spot on April 20. That ranking served as the Pirates' high-water mark for the season as well as the second highest ranking for The Hall since they ended the 1988 season in the No. 3 slot and was the second highest ranking in school history. The 2020 campaign marked the Pirates' first season being ranked top-25 nationally since 2006.
