NEWARK, DEL. – Senior Emma Ramsay (Mississauga, Ontario) scored in the 71st minute and junior Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) made six saves as the Seton Hall women's soccer team upended Delaware, 1-0, on Sunday for its third straight shutout to begin the season.
Â
After 70 minutes without a tally, the Pirates broke the offensive silence as freshman Sophie Liston (Newcastle West, Ireland) found Ramsay with a beautiful crossing pass in front of the Delaware goalkeeper. Ramsay then one-timed the ball inside the post for her first tally of the season.
Â
Defensively, the Pirates were dynamic for a third straight game with Gordon leading the way. The junior goalkeeper made three saves in both halves, including a brilliant stop in the 65th minute, leaping high to her right to turn back a blistering shot from Sydni Wright at the far corner of the box. Gordon also turned away a shot in the final minute to ensure the Pirates' victory.

Seton Hall will return to action on Thursday, September 2 when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson at Owen T. Carroll Field. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The contest will be streamed live by the Pirate Sports Network and is available to subscribers on FloSports.
