Dahn Named to CSC Second Team Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas – Graduate defender Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany) has been named to the College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-America, the program announced on Wednesday. The honor recognizes student-athletes for their combined performance on the field as well as in the classroom. Dahn becomes the seventh Pirate to earns CSC Academic All-America honors, and just the second since 2001 to do so.
Dahn starred on the back line for the Pirates this past season, guiding his team to a 7-4-7 overall record. The team's second place finish in the BIG EAST standings was its best since 1991, and the 17 points in league play were the most since 2006. Dahn and the Pirates posted six shutouts on the season as well, which was tied for the second most in a single season in program history.
Dahn was a model of consistency as well. In his 17 matches this season, he logged 1488 minutes and played the full 90 minutes 16 times in 2022. In his 50 career matches, Dahn played full-time in 47 of them. This season, Dahn picked up an assist on Sep. 17 at Xavier, a helper which aided the Pirates' late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw on the road.
In the classroom, Dahn is pursuing his MBA in Finance and owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA. He was one of six Pirates to be named to the CSC All-District team last month. Dahn also received academic honors from the BIG EAST, as he was Seton Hall's representative as the 2021-22 BIG EAST Institutional Male Scholar-Athlete. Dahn also was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team in 2021 and 2022.
In addition to his classroom accolades, Dahn was named to the All-BIG EAST team three times, including twice earning first team honors. In 2020, he was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team. Dahn becomes the third Pirate in program history to earn both All-America distinction from United Soccer Coaches and Academic All-America from CSC in his career, joining CJ Tibbling and Pat O'Kelly.
To qualify for the Academic All-America team, nominees must have completed their sophomore year both athletically and academically and must have completed one full calendar year at the institution. Nominees must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average who had participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
