200 Free Relay Record Falls on Day Two

East Meadow, N.Y. – The relay team of Josie McCartney (Verona, Wisc.), Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.), Leiya Istambouli (Danbury, Conn.), and Cornelia Jerresand (Taeby, Sweden) set a new program-record with a third-place finish in the 200 Free Relay on night two of the 2022 BIG EAST Championships on Thursday. The team combined to touch the wall in a time of 1:33.17 breaking the previous school record of 1:33.81 set earlier this season.

Starting off the night, Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.) set a new personal best in the 500 Free consolation final with a first-place finish. Zajdzinski touched the wall in a time of 4:53.18 to set a new personal mark.

Next, in the 200 IM Bonus Final, Lauren Schofield (Clark Summit, Pa.) set a new season-best with a time of 2:07.07 while Madeline Field (Wheaton, Ill.) set a new personal-best with a time of 2:06.99. In the consolation final of the same event, Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) was able to register a new personal-best time, finishing in 2:06.91.

In the fastest event of the championships, McCartney swam a personal-best time of 23.70 for a third-place finish in the 50 Free Consolation Final.

Seton Hall currently finds themselves in fifth in the BIG EAST team standings with 289.5 points.
