Pirates Announce 2022 Men's Soccer Schedule

South Orange, NJ – Seton Hall men's soccer's 2022 competition schedule has been finalized, and The Hall will once again face a strong non-conference schedule of six matches, followed by 10 fixtures against BIG EAST opponents for a total of 16 matches.
This season, the Pirates will face a total of seven teams who reached the NCAA Tournament last season, all of whom won at least one game. All seven of those teams also finished inside the top-30 in RPI. The Pirates are also slated to play two teams who were ranked No. 1 in the US Soccer Coaches Poll during last season.
The Pirates will kick off the 2022 season on Thursday, Aug. 25 against Rider at Owen T. Carroll Field as part of a soccer doubleheader with the women's team, followed by a trip to Temple on Monday, Aug. 29. Afterwards, the Pirates will embark on a west coast trip to face a pair of NCAA Tournament programs from a season ago.
First up is Oregon State on Friday, Sep. 2, a team which entered the NCAA Tournament last season as the top overall seed and reached the Elite 8. Three days later, the Pirates travel north to face Portland on Monday Sep. 5.
Upon returning to the east coast, the Pirates will head to Teaneck to face Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Sep. 9 before rounding out non-conference play at home against Army on Tuesday, Sep. 13.
BIG EAST play for Seton Hall begins on Saturday, Sep. 17, as the Pirates head to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier. Road matchups in conference play include Xavier (9/17), Providence (9/24), Connecticut (10/8), Marquette (10/12) and Georgetown (10/19).
The Pirates' conference home opener will be against St. John's on Saturday, October 1, followed by other home matchups with DePaul (10/5), Creighton (10/15) Villanova (10/22) and Butler (10/29). Conference play will be as tough as ever after five BIG EAST teams reached the NCAA Tournament last season, the most since 2013.
The top six squads in the league standings will qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament which begins with quarterfinal play on Saturday, Nov. 5, followed by the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and the BIG EAST Tournament Final on Sunday, Nov. 13.
