Portland, Ore. – Seton Hall fell to Portland, 3-1, on Monday night to conclude its west coast swing. The match was tied heading into the second half, but two late Pilots' goals allowed them to pull ahead. Quenzi Huerman (Vannes, France) scored on a penalty kick for his second goal of the season.
How it Happened
Portland opened the scoring early, as Brandon Cambridge found the back of the net in the seventh minute to give the Pilots a 1-0 lead. Portland nearly found another goal just 25 seconds later, but Pirate goalkeeper Hannes Ronnholmen (Stockholm, Sweden) made one of his six saves on the night to deny the scoring chance.
Seton Hall's goal came in the 24th minute after Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta) was taken down in the penalty area by Portland keeper George Tasouris. Huerman did the honors of stepping up to take the penalty and buried his second goal of the season into the bottom-left corner to level the match at 1-1.
Portland took the lead back in the 70th minute as a counter attack led to Cambridge's second goal of the night. The Pilots would add an insurance goal in the 79th minute as Delentz Pierre headed one in off a corner kick.
Inside the Numbers
The Pirates will return to New Jersey for their final non-conference road match of the season, as they head to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday at 7 p.m.
