
Moeller, Waggoner Set School Records at WVU

Morgantown, W. Va. – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the WVU Invite on Thursday night. Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.) and Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) highlighted the day for the Pirates, setting new program records in the 50 Free and 500 Free, respectively.
Moeller and Waggoner each set program records in their respective events during prelims on Thursday morning, only to break those records again during the finals. Moeller clocked in at 23.17 in the 50 Free prelims to break her own record of 23.25, while Waggoner's prelim time of 4:51.26 in the 500 Free took down Julie Stankewicz's record of 4:52.41 from 2020.
Waggoner would break the 500 Free record a second time during the finals on Thursday night. The junior won the event, touching the wall with a time of 4:47.73 to best her time from the morning. Moeller would also best her record-breaking time in the 50 Free, clocking a 23.11 split on the first leg of the 200 Free Relay.
Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) also picked up a victory in the 1-meter dive. The graduate student posted a score of 281.85 to take the victory and remain unbeaten in diving events so far this season.
The Pirates return to action on Friday morning for the second day of the WVU Invite. Prelims get underway at 9:30 a.m., with finals set to begin at 6 p.m.
