Waggoner Breaks 400 IM Record on Day Two at WVU

Morgantown, W. Va. – Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) broke a school record for the third time in the last 48 hours as the Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team finished up its second day at the WVU Invite.
Waggoner won the 400 IM, taking down her own program record in the process. The junior finished with an NCAA "B" cut time of 4:16.78, which was over five seconds faster than her previous record of 4:22.10. For Waggoner, she sets the new record one day after clocking a new program-best time in the 500 Free during both prelims and finals on Thursday.
Mia Sunseri (Wheeling, W. Va.) took second place in the 400 IM as the Pirates swept each of the top two spots in the event. Sunseri also swam a faster time than Waggoner's old record, touching the wall with a time of 4:20.86.
Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) took second place in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a total score of 292.95. For Alessio, it is just her first loss of the season in any diving event after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter in each of the first five meets of the season.
The Pirates return to action on Saturday for the final day of competition at West Virginia. Prelims are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals getting underway at 5 p.m.
