NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced on Thursday that Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) earned Second Team honors.
Â
Park-Lane is the first player in Seton Hall women's basketball history to earn First Team All-BIG EAST honors three times in her career.
Â
Park-Lane is in the midst of another spectacular season averaging 19.7 points and 6.4 assists per game. A Top-5 Finalist for the prestigious Nancy Lieberman National Point Guard of the Year Award, she has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week once and to the Weekly Honor Roll six times this year. A member of the 2022 Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team, she was selected to the John R. Wood Award National Player of the Year Watch List. This season, Park-Lane surpassed the 1,700-point mark for her career and became Seton Hall's all-time leader in assists. On Feb. 13 against DePaul, she erupted for a career-high 39 points to set The Hall's single-game scoring record. She completed the 2022-23 regular season ranked third in the BIG EAST in scoring and second in assists.
Â
Named to an All-BIG EAST Team for a second straight year, Cooks has been utterly dominant this season, averaging a career-high 16.2 points per game, which ranked seventh in the BIG EAST. A BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll member, she averaged 6.0 rebounds per contest, which ranked 14th in the conference. Although she surpassed 1,700 career points earlier this year, even more impressive is that she became only the 25th player in Seton Hall women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points in a Pirates uniform, a feat accomplished in only 63 games. Cooks perfected her three-point shooting this season, connecting on a career-high 48 trifectas. Her .432 shooting percentage from long distance ranked second in the BIG EAST this season.
