Omaha, Neb. – Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) was dominant in both the circle and at the plate and Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) added insurance with a seventh inning grand slam as the Pirates opened their weekend in Omaha with a 7-2 victory over Creighton. With the win, Seton Hall has won six of its last eight games.

How it Happened
- Before Carr took the ball in the circle, she gave herself a lead to work with. Carr stepped up with runners at the corners and singled up the middle to score Ashly Colonnetta (Cypress, Texas) with the game's first run.
- After Carr gave up a home run in the bottom of the second to tie the score, she took it upon herself to get that run back. Carr launched her fourth home run of the year to centerfield to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead.
- In the fifth, Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) would provide some insurance. After Carr singled for her third hit of the game to start the inning, Miranda Arruda (Pawcatuck, Conn.) worked her way over to third with one out. She would be brought home on a sacrifice fly by Wingo with what proved to be the game-winning run.
- With the Pirates looking to extend their lead in the seventh, walks to Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) and Carr followed by a Wingo single loaded the bases with one out. Gilbert stepped to the plate and launched a ball over the fence in left-center to break the game open.
- Gilbert's grand slam was the first for the Pirates since Taylor Hill hit one on April 14, 2022 against Georgetown.
- Gilbert has now homered in three consecutive games.
- Of Carr's 11 RBI this season, eight of them have come in games she has also been the starting pitcher in.
- Today was the fourth time this season that Carr had more or as many RBI's as a hitter as earned runs she allowed in the circle.
- This is Carr's second career three-hit game, her first since going 3-for-5 against Villanova on May 2, 2021.
- The win snaps a four-game losing streak in Omaha for the Pirates. Seton Hall had not won at Creighton since May 4, 2019.
