Pirates to Face UConn in BIG EAST Championship First Round on Thursday

NEW YORK - The Seton Hall women's tennis team has been seeded 11th in this week's BIG EAST Championship, and the Pirates will face No. 6 seed Connecticut in the first round Thursday at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., at 9 a.m.

Seeds for the championship were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

The Pirates and Huskies did not compete against each other in a dual match this season. They had seven common opponents: Army West Point, Butler, UMass, Providence, Sacred Heart, St. John's and Stony Brook.

The winner between Seton Hall and UConn will move on to face No. 3 seed Creighton in the quarterfinals Friday at 9 a.m.

The Pirates are seeking their first tournament win since 2017, when they defeated Georgetown in the quarterfinals.

Semifinals - Saturday, April 22 - 9 a.m.
