South Orange, N.J. - Four members of the Seton Hall women's tennis team have been recognized by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their academic prowess. Named CSC Div. I Academic All-District are seniors Hiba El Khalifi and Arina Gumerova, junior Oliwia Kempinski and sophomore Arabella Moen.
To be considered for Academic All-District, nominees must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and participate in at least 50 percent of a team's contests, not including exhibitions. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced on June 1.
El Khalifi is graduating in a couple of week with her degree in information technology management and finance. She enjoyed a strong senior campaign, going 15-10 in singles overall and 10-6 in the spring dual match season.
Gumerova is graduating with her degree in mathematical finance and won 14 singles matches on the year while mostly playing at the No. 1 position.
Kempinski, who is majoring in mathematical finance, had a breakout season with an 18-11 singles record overall, 11-8 in the spring. She moved into the No. 1 position in March. She also had a fantastic 14-7 record in doubles, mostly in the No. 2 position.
Moen is an information technology management major and won exactly 11 matches both in singles competition and in doubles this year and was particularly effective in the No. 5 singles position.
