Carr, Howard Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – KELSEY CARR has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week and ERIN HOWARD was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday.
Carr had a banner week for the Pirates, compiling a 0.50 ERA over 14 innings pitched and earning a pair of victories. Her week was highlighted by tossing the 22nd no-hitter in program history on Tuesday against Drexel. Carr, who came within one strike of a perfect game, struck out five in her dominant outing. On Friday at St. John's, the Queens native shut down the Red Storm bats in a 4-1 victory by allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings.
Howard batted a team-best .429 last week for The Hall, compiling four multi-hit games in the process. She kicked the week off with a bang by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the game one victory over Drexel on Tuesday. Howard would also post multi-hit outings against Army and St. John's. The sophomore, who has started every game behind the plate this season, is batting .299 on the season as a whole and .343 during BIG EAST action.
The Pirates wrap up the regular season at home this weekend with a three-game series against DePaul.
