How it Happened
The Pirates grabbed the early lead thanks to some two-out production. After the first two batters of the bottom of the first were set down, Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) ripped a double to keep the frame alive. Katey Brennan (Yardley, Pa.) stepped in and roped a double of her own, scoring Gilbert for the first run of the day.

Providence's first run came across in the third on an RBI groundout to level the score at 1-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) hit a single to right field which eventually allowed Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) to score after the throw home escaped the catcher. The Pirates would add on one inning later, as Lauren Caye (Pittsburgh, Pa.) hit a perfectly placed bloop single to right field, scoring Andrea Perez (Corona, Calif.) from second.

Leading 3-1 in the sixth, the Friars' ability to put runners aboard and put the ball in play helped them take the lead. An infield single to shortstop gave Providence the lead for good, and a two-run single from Hannah Aldrich extended the advantage to 6-3.
Seton Hall put runners on base in the sixth and seventh innings, but was unable to mount a comeback.
