Kossoudji and Kauschke Land BIG EAST Weekly Honors

NEW YORK - Graduate student midfielder Jack Kossoudji (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman forward Til Kauschke (Hamburg, Germany) have been recognized by the BIG EAST Conference for their efforts in helping the Pirates defeat Harvard last Saturday night. Kossoudji was named the BIG EAST Offensive of the Week, and Kauschke was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Seton Hall has now received at least one of the major weekly honors in each of the four weeks of the season. This is the second week Kauschke has received BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Kossoudji had a four-point week helping the nationally ranked Pirates remain undefeated. First, Kossoudji had a beautiful cross into the box for an assist on Tim Strobeck's goal, what proved to be the game-winning goal, in Seton Hall's 3-1 road win at Rutgers. Then Kossoudji helped The Hall rebound from a 1-0 deficit to Harvard. With the match tied, it was his touch pass to Til Kauschke at the top of the box in the 61st minute that led to the second goal. And in the 79th minute, he scored what became the game-winning goal when he dribbled past two defenders and slipped the ball through the goalkeeper's legs for his first goal as a Pirate.
Kauschke had a three-point week helping the nationally ranked Pirates remain undefeated. First, he initiated what proved to be the game-winning goal in the win at Rutgers when he provided a through ball to Jack Kossoudji, who then crossed into Tim Strobeck, who tallied the goal. Then in the 3-2 comeback win over Harvard, Kauschke delivered a highlight reel of a goal when he one-timed a Kossoudji pass at the top of the box and blasted it past the goalkeeper at the top left corner of the net.
Seton Hall is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation according to the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll. The Pirates, who are 6-0-0 for the first time since 1986, play at Providence Friday night and then host Lehigh Tuesday night at Owen T. Carroll Field.
