NEW YORK - Coming off a week where the No. 15 Seton Hall Pirates held both of their opponents scoreless, including a draw against No. 24 UConn, junior Liam Guske (St. John's, Fla.) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Guske was a stone wall on the left side of a Pirate defense that has suffocated opposing offenses this season. In a midweek matchup against Lehigh, Guske and the rest of the Pirates' backline held the Mountain Hawks to four shots in a 2-0 win for The Hall. On Saturday against No. 24 UConn, he shut down multiple offensive chances over the full 90 minutes as the Pirates held their ranked BIG EAST opponent to only four shots in a 0-0 draw.
The Pirates will return home Friday night to face Marquette at Owen T. Carroll Field. Game time is scheduled for 6:56 p.m. All Seton Hall home games are free to attend.
