
Pirates Visit Bryant for NCAA Tournament Second Round Match

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – After a thrilling overtime win in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, Seton Hall men's soccer will look to move on to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020 when they take on the No. 11 national-seeded Bryant Bulldogs at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, R.I.

- The Pirates hosted the Siena Saints in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in front of a sold out Owen T. Carroll Field. This match was the first home NCAA Tournament match since The Hall's 2-1 win over Hartwick in 2005.

- Despite immense offensive pressure in the first half, the Pirates could not put away a single chance to break the 0-0 deadlock at half. Agustin Resch would wake up the Pirate faithful with a corner kick goal to put The Hall in front 1-0 in the 59th minute.
- Despite their best defensive effort, the Pirates' defense let up a chaotic goal in the box in the 89th minute to force overtime.

- After two scoreless overtime periods with few chances, the match came down to a penalty shootout. The opening three Pirates buried their kicks, while the Saints were stuffed on their first two kicks by goalie Matias Molina before their final one rattled off the crossbar to secure a Seton Hall win.
- Under Andreas Lindberg's guidance, the Pirates are competing in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in eight years.
- The Hall's last appearance came in 2022, when they fell to New Hampshire 2-1 on the road.
- In the 2020 COVID-shortened season, the Pirates made it all the way to the quarterfinals before falling to the No. 3 ranked national seed Indiana, 2-0.
- The Pirates have only advanced past the Round of 32 twice this century, in 2001 and 2020.
- This will be the first-ever matchup between the Bryant Bulldogs and the Seton Hall Pirates.
