NEW YORK, N.Y. – After hitting a blistering .524 with a nine RBI at the Paladin Invitational, Angelina Benitez was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Alongside Benitez, Kyra Kreuscher joined her by earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors.
Since becoming the full-time centerfielder for the Pirates this season, Benitez has been a constant force in the leadoff spot for The Hall. This past weekend in South Carolina, the sophomore outfielder logged at least one hit in every game on her way to a .524 batting average and six runs scored. As the lineup cycled around, she also acted as a driving force for Seton Hall rallies, finishing the weekend tied for the team lead with 9 RBI.
Kreuscher, despite only making one start, played a crucial role in every game this weekend. The senior recorded a 1-0 record with two saves in 10.2 innings pitched across all five games. Her defining showing of the weekend came in the finale against George Mason, where, with a lead at her back, she pitched three innings of no-hit ball with five strikeouts to earn the save in a 13-6 win.
