INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Seton Hall softball team (10-14, 2-7) closed out the weekend series with a loss to the Butler Bulldogs (13-9, 6-0), 11-3 in six innings, at the Butler Softball Field.

How It Happened
In the series finale, both sides started sluggishly, unable to string any strong offensive momentum together in the opening two frames. After cycling through the lineup, however, Butler found their way offensively in the third inning. After the Bulldogs sent 11 batters to the plate in an inning that included an error, a catcher's interference and a walk, The Hall found itself down 6-0 after the third out was registered.

It took until the fifth inning for The Hall to lodge its response to Butler's second-inning surge. Elisabeth Figliolino scored on an error early on in the inning, followed quickly by an advantageous opportunity at the plate with the bases loaded and one out. After aiding yesterday's late rally attempt, Sophia DeMarco connected on the first pitch of the at-bat, driving the ball into left center field. Angelina Benitez and Christina Ginex both raced around the bases to score, making it a 6-3 game. Unfortunately, even with two runners on and one out, neither of the ensuing two batters could plate an additional Pirate, leaving the proceedings stuck at a three-run game.

However, the Pirates' comeback attempt would not hold true. Butler registered a combined five runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to hand Seton Hall an 11-3 loss to close the series.

With the loss, the Pirates move to 10-14 on the season and 2-7 in BIG EAST play.
Benitez has now recorded a hit in 20 of 24 games this season.
- She also recorded her team-leading 20^th run scored.
DeMarco recorded her seventh multi-RBI game of the season.
- With two RBI today, she reached 24 RBI on the season.
Perez recorded her 33^rd career multi-hit game.
Howard recorded her 22^nd career multi-hit game.
