DeMarco, Dupuis Push Pirates Past Providence, 4-3

How It Happened     Â
Just like the prior two games of the weekend, the Pirates found themselves down early against the Friars. However, despite Providence being aided by an error, they only found themselves up 2-0 after the top of the second inning.
With their smallest deficit of the weekend, The Hall's offense responded with newfound confidence. After Loreale Blake's one-out walk, Andrea Perez stepped to the plate and quickly made her mark, doubling into the gap in left-center field and scoring Blake to make it a 2-1 game after two innings of play.
That confidence carried into the third inning when they returned to the plate. To lead off the inning, Sophia DeMarco worked a full count before sending a home run over the right field wall, tying the game at 2-2. However, in the top of the fourth, the Friars answered with a leadoff home run of their own, moving back ahead 3-2.
Yet, as they have all season, The Hall would find some extra mustard in the later innings. In the bottom half of the fourth, the Pirates wasted no time in cementing their position in this important BIG EAST clash. After a lead-off single by Perez, Christina Ginex blitzed a double into the gap. As The Hall raced around the bags, a bungled relay allowed Perez to score, tying the game. 3-3.
Three batters later, DeMarco returned to the plate with a runner on third and two outs, looking to continue her strong day. Staring at a 1-1 count, the sophomore slapped a ball off the infield, bouncing it over the shortstop's head to give the Pirates their first lead of the day, 4-3.
Despite allowing three runs early on, Karissa Dupuis was quietly keeping the Friars from doing immense damage as the game progressed past the midpoint. Despite facing trouble in both the fifth and seventh frames, the junior remained composed in the circle. With her defense at her back, Dupuis closed out the seventh to close out her second complete game of the season to give Seton Hall the 4-3 win.
