Edison Sanchez enters his third year as an assistant coach with the Seton Hall men's soccer program in 2023.
Sanchez and staff helped guide the Pirates to a bounce-back campaign in 2022, finishing with a 7-4-7 overall record an a 4-1-5 mark in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall's 17 points in conference action were its most since 2006 and resulted in a second place finish in the league standings, the program's highest finish since 1991. Seton Hall received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, qualifying for the second time in three seasons.
Â
Sanchez served as an assistant coach with the Manhattan men's soccer program for three years prior to his arrival at The Hall. In 2019, he guided the Jaspers to a MAAC Tournament berth while helping land two players on the All-MAAC team accolades. Sanchez’s impact on the staff was felt immediately when in his first year with the program in 2018, the Jaspers notched a program-record 12 wins including its first victory over a ranked opponent when Manhattan took down No. 25 Fordham on September 18.
Â
Prior to his arrival at Manhattan, Sanchez served as the head coach for the Monroe women's soccer team. In his first season at the helm, the team finished the year ranked 16th in the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Women's Poll. Sanchez led the program to a pair of wins against top-five NJCAA opponents in 2017. Sanchez also served as an assistant coach with the Monroe men’s soccer program from 2014-2017 when the Mustangs made two National Championship appearances.
Â
Sanchez attended Monroe College in 2011, where he helped the Mustangs reach their first national championship in program history during a 14-2-1 campaign. He then transferred to Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, in 2012 and won a national championship with the Blazers in 2012. Sanchez also spent time in the New York Red Bulls organization, participating on the U-14 to U-23 teams.
