Niki Metzel was named to head coach Anthony Bozzella's staff as its newest Coordinator of Basektball Operations during the summer of 2023.
The former college star comes to South Orange after two years serving as director of athletics & head sport performance coach at Champion's Choice Athlete Traininig in Hillsborough, N.J. In her role, she assisted with athlete development, coached athletes in the weight room and addressed weaknesses in their athletic performance.
Metzel was a standout women's basketball player at her alma mater, Drexel University. A 6-foot-2 forward, she scored over 500 points and played in 105 games, making 54 starts in her last two seasons. She helped lift the Dragons to a share of the 2019-20 regular season conference title and the No. 1 seed in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. Named to the CAA All-Tournament Team in 2019, Metzel was a three-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member.
A 2020 Drexel graduate, Metzel is currently working on her MBA at Seton Hall with a focus on Sport Management.
