
McDonald Named to Baseball's Wallace Watch List

McDonald, a junior right-handed pitcher and designated hitter for the Pirates, was an All-BIG EAST Third Team selection in 2006. In addition, McDonald was named First Team All-New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association. He led Seton Hall with a .330 batting average and hits with 59. He was tied for first in doubles with 16 and was second in RBI with 34. As a pitcher, McDonald led the starters with a 4.11 ERA and was second in strikeouts with 65. McDonald gave up just 37 earned runs in 81.0 innings pitched.

Dedicated to the memory of former Texas Tech shortstop and assistant coach, Wallace was a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977 to 1980. A four-year starter, he was named All-Southwest Conference and All-District Six his senior year when he led the Red Raiders to their first-ever appearance in the Southwest Conference Tournament. The selection committee for the Wallace Award is comprised of a national panel of preeminent coaches, sports information directors, former winners and beat media who most closely follow the sport. Screening Committee members will evaluate the candidates and will continue their review throughout the entire baseball season.
