CLEARWATER, FLA. - Will Walsh (New Milford, N.J.) belted one home run and finished with 160 points during the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament Opening Ceremonies Home Run Derby at Bright House Field in Clearwater Fla.
Eight participants, one from each team competing in the post-season tournament, received 10 swings picking up 100 points for each home run and 10 points for each ball hit into the outfield. The top four players with the most points after round one moved onto the championship round.
The left-handed hitting Walsh hit one ball over the right field wall and hit the top of the wall on another swing. Only four of his swings did not reach the outfield.
Connecticut's George Springer, Louisville's Cade Stallings, Notre Dame's David Casey, and Cincinnati's Justin Riddell punched their ticket to the championship round. Casey won the contest with six home runs in the final round.
