
Baseball Falls to Tennesee in Series Opener, 9-2

KNOXVILLE, TENN. - With the score tied at one, Tennessee scored in each inning, four through eight, to defeat the Seton Hall baseball team, 9-2, on Friday in Knoxville.
Junior ace Jon Prosinski (Skillman, N.J.) took the loss for the Pirates, giving up five earned runs in five innings of work with one strikeout and three walks.
Freshman Kyle Grimm (Bergenfield, N.J.) knocked in both runs for Seton Hall and now has four on the season, second-most on the team.
Junior Scott Kalamar (Bethlehem, Pa.) got things started for the Pirates in the top of the third inning. Trailing 1-0, Kalamar led off with a single and then stole second base. With two outs, Grimm singled through the left side to tie the game at one.
Tennessee took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth. With two on and no outs, Chris Fritts reached on a throwing error by Prosinski scoring the go-ahead run. Wes Walker hit a sacrifice fly to left field to extend the Volunteers lead to 3-1 and they never looked back.
Seton Hall (2-3) threatened in the top of the eighth inning, but could only scratch across one run. Senior Dale Anderson (Alberta, Canada) singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a passed ball. Senior Will Walsh (New Milford, N.J.) grounded out to advance Anderson to third and Kyle Grimm drove Anderson home with an RBI single.
Sophomore leadoff batter Zack Granite (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 1-for-4 with a walk and stole his team-leading third base of the season.
Tennessee's Robbie Kidd earned the win with four and a third innings of one run ball. Outfielder Chris Pearce was the lone Volunteer with three hits. Fritts and Walker had two RBIs apiece for Tennessee.
Seton Hall will continue its series with Tennessee on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm..
